The transformation to which Tai Chi leads

The process of introduction to tai chi will take you from being a normal and ordinary person to be transformed into a being with much more vitality and energy, with a healthy and balanced body, with a clear and awake mind, with kind and beneficial emotions and with a free spirit.

But before reaching that state you will undergo a process that consists of different phases in which you can feel different symptoms, which is not worrying because they will have been caused by the constant adaptation of your body to your new physical-energetic condition.

It must always be borne in mind that, when advancing in practice, the physical body is first strengthened, healing the diseases that are suffered, releasing tensions, strengthening the internal organs, and improving their functions. Then, the steps of Energy begin to open and this begins to circulate throughout the body, increasing its vitality and generating a pleasant state that extends beyond the physical body, thus eliminating negative emotions and self-imposed limitations. And, at the same time, it gradually increases the level of energy vibration making the body more subtle and less dense and thus developing the spiritual part.

Going through this whole process can produce certain reactions in the physical body and in its energetic structure, and can have personal consequences because it also changes the way of being and acting in private, labor, and social relations. The practice of these exercises pushes to solve situations to be able to heal inside and improve outside, because the most important purpose is to provide health, inner peace, and happiness, and that must cover all the areas in which the person develops.

Adverse reactions to act upon

If the new practitioner detects any of the reactions described below, he/she should inform his / her teacher and follow his / her indications and recommendations.

  • Slight, but constant discomfort and pain in the weakest parts of the body that have not yet been strengthened by practice.
  • Pain in ankles and knees, as well as tension in different muscles as you become aware of the muscle groups and the tension in them accumulated, and sensations that, although annoying, are necessary to direct attention to them and be able to relax them.
  • Small muscle contractions and tremors, due to the expansion of qi in the area that, when it begins to circulate with greater strength and quantity and go undoing the usual blockages, produces these tremors.
  • In the first months of practice you begin to feel cold in the limbs, since, by focusing on the dantien, the blood circulation slows down in the limbs.
  • Then the feeling of cold is transformed into heat when the energy that was blocked and stagnant in the various points begins to emerge, and this release of qi causes sweating in the hands and feet, a sign that the practice is working.
  • Months later, that feeling of heat and sweating turns into a pleasant warmth and the body regulates its own body temperature very well, adapting the inside to the outside.
  • Feeling hungry and increased salivary secretion, which must be swallowed into the dantien.
  • Emotional outbursts and changes in the mental attitude of the practitioner can also be experienced by freeing the different internal organs from the negative emotions that settle in them.
